The backlash-free torque limiter Securmax Servo
Safety clutch with immediate response time for demanding servo axes
In highly productive machine tools, in innovative automation systems or in demanding assembly processes, modern servomotors perform their duties everywhere thanks to their speed, controllability and precision. To protect against possible product collisions, the backlash-free Securmax Servo overload clutch provides reliable overload protection in these servo-driven drive trains. The backlash-free safety clutch works on the basis of a preloaded, positive-locking ball detent principle. The Securmax Servo uses springs with a degressive characteristic curve for immediate and direct disconnection at the slightest overload. The product range offers models with adjustable overload torques of up to 1.200 Nm.

Misalignment-compensating: Version combined with metal bellows or elastomer coupling
The backlash-free torque limiters can be combined with backlash-free compensating couplings for additional shaft misalignment compensation. Depending on the application profile, torque limiters with torsionally rigid metal bellows couplings (version DSS/SG/N-GSF) and for vibration-critical applications with elastomer couplings (version DSS/SG/N-GAS/SG) are available. These combined overload systems are also suitable for direct drives with a shaft-shaft connection.
Disengaging clutch, synchronous clutch or as a disengaging safety clutch
The Securmax Servo is available in three different versions with regard to its engagement behaviour. As a disengaging safety clutch, re-engagement takes place automatically at the directly following ball countersinks. The standard setting of the Securmax Servo DSS/SG series disengaging clutches is 60°. Versions with customised pitch and re-engagement, e.g. after 30°, 45°, 90° etc. are available as an option. As a synchronised clutch, the Securmax Servo automatically re-engages at exactly the same point after 360°. This means that the input and output always have the same angular position in relation to each other. The DSS/SG/NF disengaging safety clutch is the choice for high-speed drives combined with large masses. It also has a degressive disc spring arrangement for an immediate torque drop. The input and output are immediately disengaged in the event of an overload. The stored rotational energy can run out freely and the disengaging safety clutch remains disengaged. Torque transmission starts when the clutch is manually re-engaged by hand or by means of a device.
