Drive components for forming technology

Wherever bending, forming, forging or pressing takes place - the robustness of all machine components is indispensable. Processes in forming technology often run in the high torque range in order to bring primary formed metals into a specific shape change. It therefore goes without saying that drive components for these operations have to be extremely robust. They must also be extremely high-torque. We have the right couplings, clamping rings and safety couplings for these demanding applications.

Robust and torsionally rigid multi-plate clutches for torques up to 65,000 Nm

The steel multi-plate clutches in the GTR series from the Diskflex range offer torsionally rigid equalising clutches in a nominal torque range up to 65,000 Nm. Depending on the size, the clutches have disc packs in a 6- or 8-bolt design. They are available in single or double cardanic designs. To bridge customer-specific shaft distances, they can be supplied as spacer shaft couplings with intermediate sleeves of any length. The hubs and spacers are made of steel and are also phosphatised to ensure corrosion protection.

Load-holding slipping clutches with adjustable torques up to 23,000 Nm

The slipping hubs from the Securmax Slip series are frictionally engaged and slip in the event of an overload from a defined torque. A preload is exerted on the friction linings via disc springs. The level of this spring force and therefore the level of torque can be infinitely adjusted using adjusting nuts or screws. The slip hubs are load-holding, i.e. in the event of an overload, the respective transmission element slips and the torque is limited to the preset value. They are available with adjustable torques of up to 23,000 Nm. The slip hubs can be combined with belt pulleys, gear wheels or sprockets. A variant for extra-wide transmission elements is also available.

Releasing safety clutch with individual switching modules in the integrated transfer system

Fully automated forming systems operate with a high level of productivity and efficiency thanks to integrated transfer systems. These systems owe their output performance to the use of dynamic servo drives. Modern, electronic interfaces enable simultaneous communication between the transfer system and the press, thus ensuring an absolutely synchronised movement sequence of the ‘transporting and positioning’ sub-processes with the multi-stage tool system. This ensures that each workpiece reaches the corresponding forming tool station at exactly the right time. To ensure that the synchronised part transport is safe and highly productive, adapted safety clutches in the transfer drive provide reliable torque limitation in the event of torque peaks. A task customised for the load-separating safety clutch from the Securmax Heavy Duty series. This disengaging, residual torque-free safety clutch is made precisely for these requirement profiles, where high torques, large masses and high speeds are encountered. The overload clutches in this series have individual disengaging segments - also known as disengaging modules - that are mounted evenly around the circumference. The torque is set by changing the pressure of the springs of the respective segments via the adjusting nut attached to the face of the respective shift segments. The range includes versions for indirect drives as well as in combination with equalising clutches for direct drives with shaft-shaft connections. The modular, disengaging safety clutches are available in a torque range of up to 9,500 Nm.

Clamping collars Heavy Duty: Extra-strong hold for robust heavy-duty applications

We offer a special Clampmax Heavy Duty clamping collar series for tasks in forming technology and sheet metal working. In a robust design with extra-strong DIN 912 12.9 M12 x 40 clamping screws, they are equipped to withstand all extreme forces. The range of these two-part, radially mountable clamping rings is available for shaft diameters from 75 to 150 mm. For optimised performance, the bores of the Clampmax are face-turned so that they are exactly at right angles to the face of the clamping rings. This is crucial when using clamping rings as bearing surfaces, as mechanical stops or for mounting other components.

Rigid couplings enable shaft connections for diameters of up to 120 mm

Torqmax Heavy Duty rigid couplings are the ideal coupling solution for applications with precisely aligned shafts and extremely high torque requirements. Shafts of the same diameter are connected non-positively and absolutely backlash-free. The Torqmax for heavy-duty applications are available for shaft diameters from 55 mm to 120 mm. They are in two parts and can therefore be mounted radially. They are also balanced due to their opposing screw arrangement. The bores are always designed with a groove for additional positive locking. The rigid couplings are made of steel. Stainless steel versions are available as an option. If the backlash-free connection of shafts with different diameters is required, the programme offers versions of these robust shell couplings with stepped bores as an option.
