Drive components for measurement technology

Measurement systems are used to record linear and rotary data and are therefore largely responsible for position information in drive tasks.

Precise recording of measurement pulses: a task for encoder couplings

Couplings for these sensors, such as encoders, tachos or rotary encoders, do not have the task of transmitting high torques, but of ensuring the exact and precise recording and transmission of measurement pulses. In addition, the task is to protect the encoder from mechanical influences such as misalignments. The ball bearings used in incremental encoders or absolute encoders are sensitive to radial and axial loads. An encoder coupling should therefore combine low-restoring force operation with angularly synchronised transmission of the rotary movement.

Beamflex encoder helical coupling: Precise and low restoring force

Orbit Antriebstechnik offers various couplings for encoder applications for these applications. Beamflex encoders with multiple-start helical sections offer a design that combines low restoring forces and corresponding measurement-relevant accuracy. For high-resolution encoders, the Belflex stainless steel bellows coupling with aluminium clamping hubs offers the corresponding precision and accuracy when recording measured values.

Clamping collars for encoders and rotary encoders

We have the Clampmax Encoder clamping collars in our programme especially for rotary encoders. Their slim profile and reduced weight are specially designed to meet the requirements of today's hollow shaft encoders. Each bore size offers different versions in terms of screw size and dimensions. This means that holding forces can be adapted precisely to the respective application, and the designer can also find a clamping ring suitable for the respective dimensional requirements of the encoder and hollow shaft. For hollow shaft encoders whose applications place high demands on their material properties and are therefore equipped with stainless steel housings, the programme also includes stainless steel encoder clamping rings.

Coordinated couplings and clamping rings for measuring tasks in special environmental conditions

For encoders whose areas of application place high demands on their material properties and are therefore equipped with stainless steel housings, the range includes the appropriate drive components. The Diskflex GDC and the even more compact ZDC in stainless steel design are the choice for high-resolution encoders. The Clampmax Encoder clamping rings made of stainless steel ensure a secure hold for sensors with hollow shafts in corrosive environmental conditions.
