Oldham coupling

Oldham coupling

Operating principle

The Oldham coupling is ideal for precisely timed positioning and stepper motor applications. It consists of two stainless steel hubs and a transmission disc made of acetal or optionally PEEK for vacuum applications and VESPEL for applications with critical thermal conditions.
This three-part structure allows for easy plug-in assembly also in difficult installation conditions.

High radial displacement compensation

Their strength is radial displacement compensation. This compensation occurs via pure
displacement movements of the hubs seated in the grooves of the transmission discs. The grooves of the transmission discs act as bearings. Due to the good sliding properties of the transmission disc materials used, radial restoring forces and thus bearing loads are low. The Oldham coupling is also electrically insulating and has a very compact design. An electro-polishing process ensures that the stainless steel hubs have a special surface treatment.
